Ci troviamo, quindi, nel cuore del bacino del mediterraneo, estrema porta verso l’oriente.
Il Salento è terra magica, dove per secoli si sono incontrate culture tra le più diverse, dagli arabi agli angioini, dai greci agli spagnoli, dai messapi ai francesi di Carlo V.

Siamo circondati da pinete, vigneti e distese sterminate di ulivi, unici al mondo con le loro ipnotiche contorsioni.
La nostra storia affonda le radici sin nella preistoria, con le sue strutture megalitiche come dolmen e menhir, pitture rupestri nelle grotte e siti di grande rilevanza paleontologica. Il periodo storico che più di tutti ha lasciato il segno è senza dubbio quello compreso tra il XVII e il XVIII secolo, con la fioritura del barocco leccese che adorna le nostre chiese ed i nostri palazzi di magnifico fascino .
